David Cotterrell is an installation artist working across media and technologies to explore the social and political tendencies of a world at once shared and divided.

His work is built around moments of intersection — a fleeting encounter, a staged event, a point where systems and people collide — using these as openings to examine the human condition more directly than a straightforward narrative could.

Moving between the roles of programmer, producer and director, Cotterrell builds projects around the quiet, in-between spaces where meaningful action happens, often before its significance is fully understood.

His work has been commissioned and shown extensively across public and gallery contexts in Europe, the United States and Asia. He is Professor Emeritus of Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University and is represented by Danielle Arnaud.
